As you’re probably aware, VMware vSphere Enterprise Edition went end-of-sale almost a year ago on June 30, 2016. This announcement doesn’t necessarily induce an immediate need to act – you can continue buying support for your existing Enterprise Edition licenses up until March 2020. At that time, the product will reach its End of General Support (EOGS) date and become an unsupported product.

That’s why VMware strongly encourages users to migrate to vSphere Enterprise Plus Edition in the near future. Investing in Enterprise Plus will ensure you maintain support beyond the March 2020 date.

What’s in it for you?

Enterprise Plus has all the same features as the Enterprise Edition and adds many more, such as support for Storage I/O control, Network I/O control and distributed switch support. A full feature comparison can be found here:  http://www.vmware.com/content/dam/digitalmarketing/vmware/en/pdf/whitepaper/vmware-vsphere_pricing-white-paper.pdf.

In order to further encourage migration from vSphere Enterprise to vSphere Enterprise Plus, VMware is offering a 50% off discount on upgrade licenses from Enterprise to Enterprise Plus. This promotion is only valid until July 29, 2017.

The time is now

If you have vSphere Enterprise, this is the time to upgrade and take advantage of this promotion and ensure your vSphere licensing is current and supportable beyond March 2020.
